A combat unit gathered together in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Started By A Mother.
Carried By Brotherhood.

What began as one family reuniting a single unit has become a movement to make sure no veteran carries the weight of war alone.

Our Story

It started with 23 soldiers and one mother who wouldn’t let go.

In June 2016, Mary Henry set out to do something simple and profound: bring home the men who served alongside her son, Eric. Twenty-three soldiers — brothers who had completed three combat deployments together, including the 2009 Battle of COP Keating, where eight Americans were killed.

For that weekend, the years and the distance fell away. Men who had drifted apart, who had carried their war in silence, found each other again. The change in them was undeniable — and it didn’t stop when they went home.

What one mother started around a single unit became something bigger than any one family. In 2017, Reuniting After War was formally established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so that the reunion Eric’s unit needed could reach every unit that needs it too.

Our Mission

To facilitate fully funded reunions that restore the bonds formed in combat — because the connections forged in war are the same ones that save lives in peacetime.

What We Stand On

Three principles guide every reunion.

01

Fully Funded

All expenses — transportation, accommodation, meals, and programming — are covered. No veteran ever pays to attend.

02

Unit-Specific

Reunions bring together exact military units who share identical experiences and deployments — not general gatherings.

03

Combat-Focused

Priority is given to units that experienced combat casualties, where reconnection carries the most weight.

The Team

100% volunteer. Zero paid staff.

Every person behind RAW gives their time freely — so that every dollar raised goes to a veteran, not a salary.
